Implant cases fail at delivery more often from a torque or component mismatch than from a fabrication error. Flora Dental Lab builds the full implant-supported range: single-unit abutments and crowns, full-arch and All-on-4 prosthetics, and the components in between, and this guide covers the prescription detail that keeps a case seating first time.

What an Implant Case Needs Before FabricationThe implant system and platformEvery system has its own connection geometry. The wrong platform means the wrong abutment interface, and no lab precision corrects a mismatched connection. Tell us the system, the platform diameter, and the fixture reference.Screw- or cement-retained, stock or customRetention type drives the whole design. Screw-retained needs an accessible access channel; cement-retained needs an abutment designed for a cleansable margin. Say which you want, or describe the case and let us advise. The manufacturer's torque specificationFinal torque is set by the implant manufacturer, not the lab. Include it on the prescription so the restoration and the clinician are working to the same figure at delivery.

Implant Work at a Glance

The table below sets out the main case types and what each one asks of the records you send.

How implant case types map to what the lab needs.

Case type When it is used What we need Note
Single crown + abutment One missing tooth, healthy adjacent teeth System, platform, scan or impression coping Stock or custom abutment by aesthetics
Custom abutment Angulation, emergence or aesthetic margin control Scan body or impression, soft-tissue detail Milled titanium or zirconia
Implant bridge Multiple adjacent units on two or more implants Verified impression, passive-fit records Passive fit is the whole case
All-on-4 / full-arch Edentulous or terminal dentition Verified jig, bite, tooth position Plan and verify before milling
Bar / overdenture Removable full-arch retained on implants Implant positions, retention preference Retention set to patient dexterity

Whatever the case, passive fit and the correct torque are what separate a restoration that lasts from one that loosens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you should know

Which implant systems do you work with?+

We work across the major systems. Tell us the system, platform and fixture reference on the prescription and we match the correct components.

Screw-retained or cement-retained?+

Screw-retained is easier to retrieve and avoids residual cement; cement-retained can help with angulation and aesthetics. We will advise per case if you describe the situation.

Do you make custom abutments?+

Yes, milled titanium and zirconia custom abutments, designed for emergence, angulation and a cleansable margin.

How do you ensure passive fit on a bridge or full arch?+

With verified impressions or a verification jig and, for full-arch, a try-in stage before the framework is finalised. We do not skip verification on multi-unit work.

Do you accept intraoral scans with scan bodies?+

Yes. Send the scan with the scan bodies captured cleanly, plus the system and platform, and we take it from there.
