Connect Your Scanner: Send Flora a Digital Case from Any Intraoral Scanner

Flora is a UK dental laboratory working with practices across England, and we accept digital cases from any open-system intraoral scanner. If your scanner can connect to a lab in the cloud, or export an open mesh file, you can send us a case. There is nothing to install and no new software to learn.

There are two fast routes. The first is to connect Flora as a lab inside your scanner’s own cloud portal (MyiTero, 3Shape Communicate, Medit Link, CS Connect, DS Core and so on), then select Flora and send the case straight from the scan. The second is to export the model as a file and upload it to us. Either way, once the case reaches us we take it from there.

Accepted file formats: .stl, .obj, .ply. If you are unsure which route your scanner supports, send us the case anyway or message us first and we will confirm in minutes.

iTero (Align / MyiTero)

iTero cases reach Flora through your MyiTero account or directly from the scanner, once Flora is added as a lab.

1. Sign in to MyiTero at myitero.com, or use the scanner directly.
2. Open Settings, then the Labs (or Manage Labs) area.
3. Add Lab, then search for Flora Dental Lab or enter our iTero lab reference: [[Flora iTero lab ID: obtain from iTero before publishing]].
4. When you create the Rx for a case, set Flora as the receiving lab in the Send To field.
5. Complete the scan, fill in the prescription, and submit the case to Flora.
6. If your iTero has export enabled, you can instead export the model as an open STL and upload it to us.

3Shape TRIOS (3Shape Communicate)

TRIOS cases are sent to Flora through 3Shape Communicate. You connect to us once, then every future case is a two-click send.

1. Log in to 3shapecommunicate.com with your practice account.
2. Open Connections.
3. Click Add Connection and enter Flora’s connection email: [[Flora connection email: e.g. scan@floradental.co.uk, confirm before publishing]].
4. Flora accepts the connection request from our side (usually the same working day).
5. In TRIOS or your Dental Desktop software, finish the scan, select Flora as the recipient laboratory, and send the case.

Medit (Medit Link)

Medit i500, i600, i700 and i900 cases come to Flora through Medit Link, either the desktop app or the web portal.

1. Sign in to meditlink.com, or open the Medit Link app.
2. Go to the Partners section.
3. Click Add Partner or Invite Partner, then search for Flora Dental Lab, or enter our Medit Link address: [[Flora connection email: e.g. scan@floradental.co.uk, confirm before publishing]].
4. Once the partnership is accepted, open the finished case.
5. Select Flora as the partner laboratory and click Send or Order to transfer the case.

Dexis / Carestream (CS Connect)

Dexis IS scanners and Carestream CS units send cases to Flora through CS Connect, part of the Dexis Cloud environment.

1. Log in to your CS Connect or Dexis Cloud account.
2. Add Flora as a connected laboratory, using our CS Connect reference: [[Flora Dexis/Carestream lab ID: obtain from Dexis/Carestream before publishing]].
3. From the completed scan in CS ScanFlow or DEXIS software, choose Send to Lab.
4. Select Flora and send the case.
5. If you prefer, export the model as an STL from CS ScanFlow or the DEXIS software and upload it to us.

Dentsply Sirona (CEREC and DS Core): manual STL export

We do not take a direct connection from Dentsply Sirona scanners. To send us a case, export the model as an open STL file from your Dentsply Sirona software and upload it to us.

1. Open the case in your Dentsply Sirona software.
2. Export the model as an STL (or another open mesh format).
3. Upload the file to us with the prescription.

Planmeca (Romexis): export an STL

Planmeca Emerald and Emerald S cases come to Flora as an exported STL from Romexis.

1. In Planmeca Romexis, open the patient case and the scanned model.
2. Go to File then Export, or right-click the model and choose Export.
3. Select STL as the format.
4. Save a closed-shell STL of the upper arch, lower arch, and bite where relevant.
5. Upload the file to Flora, or email it to us if the file size allows.

Any other scanner (Straumann CARES, Shining 3D, Heron, Launca and others)

If your scanner is not listed above, you can still send Flora a case. Any scanner that exports an open mesh will work, including Straumann CARES / Virtuo Vivo, Shining 3D Aoralscan, Heron IOS, Launca and similar systems.

1. In your scanner software, finish and process the scan as normal.
2. Export the case as a closed-shell STL or OBJ (upper, lower, and bite as needed).
3. Check the export is a watertight, closed mesh rather than an open surface.
4. Upload the file to Flora, or send it to info@floradental.co.uk if the size allows.
5. Add your prescription details and required shade so we can start straight away.
